Class Teacher (Key Stage 2) Harrow January Start MPS1 MPS6 Permanent Purpose of Job: To meet the requirements and carry out the duties of a teacher as set out in the School Teachers Pay and Conditions Document and The Professional Standards for Teachers. To act in accordance with the directions reasonably requested by the Head Teacher and Deputy Headteacher Teaching Responsibilities: To plan and deliver appropriate, broad, balanced, relevant, adapted and challenging lessons to all their pupils appropriate to their needs. Delivering a consistently high standard of lessons to pupils. Marking, assessing and reporting on the progress of pupils. Main Class Responsibilities: To continuously ensure that children are progressively learning throughout the year. To assess, record and report on aspects of pupils standards, progress and development. To model the values of the school. To encourage high standards of behaviour so effective learning can take place, and good relationships can be formed within the school community. To contribute to whole school planning activities. To effectively lead and manage other adults within their classroom. To develop their subject knowledge and expertise keeping up to date with national developments, teaching practice and methodology to support pupils in achieving high standards. To ensure they provide effective curriculum coverage, continuity, progression and challenge. To assist with the monitoring and evaluation of subject delivery through (e.g. work scrutiny, resource audits and data analysis). To manage their classroom resources effectively. Lead acts of collective worship. To work co-operatively with other staff members to develop practice within school. To carry out any other reasonable requests which may be required to fulfil the role. All Staff will: Support the aims and policies of the school. Keep up to date with current trends in education. Education and Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status Bachelor Honours Degree Mathematics, English and Science GCSE (A* – C) or equivalent Experience: Teaching Key Stage 1 and/or Key Stage 2 Experience of providing up-to-date, adaptive and inspiring teaching for all pupils in assigned class. Knowledge and Skills Effective teaching and learning skills demonstrated in the Teacher Standards Excellent oral and written skills including clear articulation Effective IT skills to support childrens learning Effective behaviour management skills, which in turn will promote our school ethos and values Proven ability to make an impact towards the overall school improvement priorities Ability to relate to, and communicate effectively with children in and out of the classroom Ability to work collaboratively with parents to ensure their childrens first learning experiences are positive.
