SCUK Assistant Financial Accountant – Part Qual

Santander Consumer Finance UK (SCUK) is based in Redhill, Surrey and provides motor finance to a network of car dealerships throughout the United Kingdom.
We now have an exciting opportunity to join our finance team as an Assistant Financial Accountant for SCUK and its associated Joint Venture (JV) partners. The purpose of this role is to provide support to the Head of Accounting and Financial Accounting Manager with the monthly recurring tasks relating to reporting, reconciliation, payments, analysis and review that are essential for statutory and regulatory requirements.
You will report into the Financial Accounting Manager and work within a small Management Accounting Team.
Please note this role is a hybrid role with at least 3 days a week in the Redhill office. Working hours are 9 – 5 with flexibility required to amend hours around month end. Remote workers will not be considered.
Responsibilities will include:
- Monthly OPEX reporting for the JV partners
- Posting monthly journals such as OPEX, depreciation and provision charges
- Ownership of the JV's Finance pack, which will include the analysis and review of the JV's performance
- Point of contact for external and internal auditors
- Assist in clearance of non-reconciling balance sheet accounts along with the submission of AORP reconciliations
- Provide admin support for the ARCS system
- Providing support to the financial accounting team such as raising regular CHAPS payments and investigating historic transactions
- Ownership of the invoicing and reporting processes for the JV
- Assist with monthly Cargabal 21 reporting process
- Backfill the SCUK OPEX Accountant during busy periods and assist with covering fellow Assistant Financial Accountant when necessary
- Adhering to our commitment to Consumer Duty ensuring we put our customers' needs first and set higher and clearer standards of consumer protection
What we're looking for:
- Previous experience in a similar role in a regulated environment
- AAT, part-qualified Accountant or training towards recognised accounting qualification
- Strong numeracy and mathematical literacy
- Demonstrable expert in Excel skills
- Excellent time management and methodical ways of working
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, being able to effectively communicate with internal and externa stakeholders across all levels of the business
