About the Role:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and proactive Pre-Litigation Claims Handler to join our growing pre-litigation team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for reviewing aged debt, negotiating settlements, and identifying claims suitable for litigation. You will also play a key part in onboarding clients and instructing panel solicitors where appropriate. This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident negotiator with solid credit hire experience who thrives in a fast-paced legal environment and is committed to delivering excellent results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively negotiate with third parties to secure successful settlement outcomes
- Apply the ABI GTA, relevant case law, and credit hire principles to resolve cases effectively
- Assess prospects of success for credit hire, storage, and recovery claims, including liability disputes
- Analyse and interpret Basic Hire Rate (BHR) reports
- Manage your own caseload efficiently and maintain strong organisational discipline
- Initiate outbound calls to insurers to discuss cases and agree on settlements
- Conduct thorough case reviews prior to escalation for litigation
- Evaluate impecuniosity and assess supporting evidence
- Provide excellent client care to gather necessary information and onboard clients for litigation
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience in credit hire is essential
- In-depth knowledge of the ABI GTA and credit hire case law
- Strong background in RTA claims, with the ability to assess liability and indemnity issues
- Familiarity with the MIB and related agreements
- Confident telephone manner and excellent negotiation skills
- Organised and detail-oriented with the ability to prioritise a busy caseload
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and case management systems
- Numerate, with the ability to interpret and negotiate hire invoices
- Collaborative team player with a positive, solution-focused attitude
