SRG are working with a leading waste management and recycling company who have a long and very successful history of supporting the UK chemical industry. They are now looking for a Senior Site Chemist to join the team. This is a hands-on role within the waste industry, you will be checking supervising and leading operatives, testing incoming loads, processing hazardous and non-hazardous waste, ensuring segregation and storage of hazardous waste meets requirements, labelling waste and completing documents on all incoming and outgoing chemical materials. This role would suit candidates with prior industrial experience within the waste industry.
Working Hours: 37.5 working hours per week, Monday to Friday, 24 days holiday + statutory bank holidays. Access to Rewards Gateway offering excellent discounts and cash back with many large retailers.
Role/Description- Receiving chemical waste onto site from industrial and commercial sites
- Ensuring paperwork for incoming waste is compliant and correctly completed
- Confirm all accepted waste meets defined standards and complies with pre-acceptance and Environmental Permit requirements
- Oversee the safe, compliant, and timely handling, storage, and treatment of all waste
- Lead, plan and supervise site operatives to ensure that waste is processed, stored and transferred in a safe, compliant and timely manner as well as providing technical support to other members of staff on site.
- Assisting with the control of material flows through the site and ensuring container stocks are maintained to avoid delays and backlogs
- Supporting site chemists and operatives, ensuring all staff are working efficiently and collaboratively
- Assist with site compliance and health and safety requirements and their strict adherence
- Minimum HND in Chemistry, or similar qualification with significant chemistry content
- 2+ years' experience in a supervisory role within hazardous waste management
- Recent experience working within the Hazardous Waste industry
- Any of the following qualifications or experience are considered advantageous: COTC, WAMITAB, NEBOSH, IOSH
- Willing to work outside in all weathers
- Good work ethic, hands-on approach and a willingness to learn
- Full right to work in the UK - There is no sponsorship available for this role
