A London based prestigious architectural practice specialised in both high density and low density, mixed use led residential developments; urban regeneration including sustainable urban extensions; city-scale masterplans; and brand new settlements are seeking a Sr Urban Designer to join their team.
Candidate must have around 6-10 years of experience with a background in architecture and urban design ideally in the UK. Sr Urban Designer must have strong leadership skills as they will work closely with not just senior management on a range of projects but will also oversee internal teams.
- Leading Project Teams: Candidate must be able to supervise and mentor team members including junior members of the project.
- Client Management: Must be in a client facing/public engagement role to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, managing expectations, and ensuring client satisfaction.
- Project Management: Must efficiently oversee the development and execution of projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Design Development: Must have a solid understanding of urban design principles, planning regulations, and building codes. Must be able to develop and refine design ideas, create planning applications, create masterplans all the way to individual plot layouts.
- Communication and Presentation: Preparing reports, presentations, and other design materials for clients, stakeholders, and the public.
- Regulatory Compliance: Understanding and ensuring compliance with relevant planning regulations and design guidelines.
Sr Urban Designer must have a background in architecture, proficiency in software like AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, REVIT and potentially GIS software, excellent sketching ability, strong analytical and problem-solving skills to navigate complex design challenges and ensure project success, attention to details and a passion for high quality sustainable design, and the ability to work collaboratively as well as an individual contributor. Must have previous experience of planning and delivering large scale projects, including understanding of project budgets, and experience managing client relationships. Excellent written and verbal skills are required. Candidate must have a legal right to live and work in the UK. The role doesn't offer sponsorship.
