Our client is a mid-size financial services firm which is a Linux shop both on the server side and the trader desktops. The London office is small and you will be the single Linux administrator. Some Windows administration skills are a plus but not strictly necessary. We face our users directly and interact with them frequently. Good communication skills are important.
We are seeking a hands-on professional for our growing systems administration team. Systems Administrators are responsible for the workstations and servers of our rapidly expanding trading operations. In addition to all systems work both on the desktops and in the datacentres, Systems Administrators frequently interact with users at various levels all across our organization.
Skills & Attributes:- Fluency in Linux administration is a must
- Experience in Debian/Ubuntu preferred
- Strong communication skills
- A demonstrated ability to work tasks to completion and tolerate frequent context switches
- Experience scripting in bash and python is preferred, SQL and Perl a plus
- Knowledge of cybersecurity tools including 2FA, iptable rulesets, Malwarebytes, fail2ban, etc.
- Ability to move and install equipment weighing up to 50lbs
- Preference to apply a breadth of experience towards varied responsibilities in a small-shop environment
- Comfortable with hands-on work, racking and stacking in datacentres is commonplace
- Installations of workstations on our trading floors and in offices
- Installations of servers and networking appliances in data centres, sometimes requiring travel
- Hardware maintenance
- Large-scale build-outs, sometimes requiring travel, both domestic and international
- Installations of office appliances such as printers, phones, televisions, etc.
