HV Project Planner

Position: Project Planner – HV Substations (UK) Location: Birmingham (with national travel required) Sector: Power Transmission & Distribution We are seeking an experienced Project Planner to join our team delivering high-voltage substation projects across the UK. Role Overview As a Project Planner, you’ll be responsible for developing and managing project schedules for high-voltage (HV) substation projects. You’ll also play a key role in wider project controls activities, including budget management and risk mitigation. Key Responsibilities · Build and manage project schedules using Primavera P6 and MS Project. · Support the creation of tender and design schedules, interpreting client drawings and requirements. · Lead earned value management and provide regular schedule performance reporting. · Conduct impact analysis of delays and manage Compensation Events. · Support the risk management process and ensure compliance with CDM regulations. · Work closely with clients, project teams, and other stakeholders to meet delivery objectives. What You Bring · Minimum 7 years’ experience in project planning. · At least 5 years in the HV substation or power transmission sector. · Proven experience working with National Grid and NGET TP 193 standards. · Strong understanding of design and construction sequencing in HV substations. · Proficient in Primavera P6; MSP knowledge desirable. · Full UK driving licence & CSCS card. Desirable · Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. · Professional affiliation or membership in relevant industry bodies. Travel Requirement This role requires national travel – typically around 40-50% annually – to project sites and client meetings.
