An excellent opportunity has become available for a PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities) Care Assistant to join a well-resourced and supportive special needs secondary school in Greenwich. This full-time role involves working with students aged 11-19 who have complex physical, medical, and learning needs.
This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting vulnerable young people and has previous experience in either care, education, or healthcare settings. The role involves personal care, mobility assistance, and supporting students with engaging, sensory-based learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with profound and multiple learning disabilities
- Support students with personal care routines including toileting, feeding, and changing
- Assist with hoisting, positioning, and manual handling
- Help implement tailored care and learning plans
- Work collaboratively with classroom staff, therapists, and medical professionals
- Maintain a safe and nurturing environment throughout the school day
Requirements
- Experience supporting children or young adults with PMLD, physical disabilities, or complex needs
- Comfortable with personal care and manual handling
- Positive, calm, and caring approach
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Relevant training (e.g. Moving & Handling, PEG feeding, First Aid) is desirable
- Right to work in the UK
