We have an opportunity for a Lead Engineer - Surface Design to join the Team at the new Silverstone Facility. In this role you will lead a group of highly creative and skilled design engineers to deliver high quality surface geometry models to aid the aerodynamic development of the team’s race car. We aspire to be the absolute best in every aspect of our team. What you will be doing:
- Management and responsibility of the Surface Design Team.
- Lead the delivery of high quality and complex surface geometry models for CFD, Wind Tunnel and full-size release.
- Work closely with Aerodynamicists to understand the definition and scope of all new surfaces, including modelling and construction approach.
- Liaise with model designers to ensure efficient implementation of aerodynamic projects.
- Manage and organise the release of aero surface geometry to the full-size car design office.
- Liaise with full-size car designers to create high quality surface geometry for full-size release.
- Mentor junior members of the group and support pushing forward methodologies and modelling improvements.
- Implement and manage standard design practices, ensuring these are adhered to.
- Maintain any relevant surface modelling documentation.
Requirements:
- Multiple years’ relevant experience in a similar role within the motorsport industry.
- Extensive experience in with 3D CAD software (preferably 3DExperience/CATIA).
- Strong knowledge and understanding of surface quality, model layout and robustness.
- Possess a high level of understanding of surfacing and parametric modelling techniques.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Able to perform duties in a timely manner with minimal errors.
- Ability to line manage / lead teams effectively.
- Communicate effectively with key stakeholders/directors.
- Clear and concise communication.
- Strong levels of IT skills including MS Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Positively contribute to an open and inclusive culture.
