About the role

This is a new role within the Legacies Team. Our legacy notifications and income have been steadily growing and we are excited to be expanding the team. You will be a crucial part in ensuring that all legacies to the charity are administered in a timely and sensitive manner, maintaining and building great relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Legacies currently fund over half of our work and you will have an important role in helping Parkinson’s UK support more people affected by Parkinson’s.

What you’ll do:

  • Work with the Legacy Administration Manager to actively manage a varied caseload
  • Handle a mixture of pecuniary, residuary and reversionary legacy cases
  • Tailor your approach to each case depending on the circumstances, having a flexible approach whilst ensuring that all gifts are administered in a timely manner
  • Work to optimise Parkinson’s UK legacy income where appropriate
  • Ensure that all bequests to Parkinson’s UK are received and utilised, in accordance with Parkinson’s UK policies, including Local Group gifts
  • Maintain your knowledge of current legislation around IHT, CGT, s.119 requirements etc
  • Play an active role in the wider legacy team and promoting Gifts in Wills where necessary

What you’ll bring:

  • Demonstrable experience and understanding of charity legacy administration
  • Ability to communicate clearly, assertively and compassionately with Executors, solicitors and bereaved family and friends
  • High level of numeracy skills in order to approve complex Estate Accounts and tax calculations
  • Self motivation with prioritising, planning and project management skills
  • Experience of operating in a modern digital workplace, including using digital tools to work collaboratively and productively
  • Ideally have experience of using First Class 4 legacy software
  • Either have or are working towards a recognised professional legacy qualification including Certificate in Charity Legacy Administration (CiCLA), Solicitor, or other relevant legal qualification
