A large and successful maritime services company is seeking a Cargo Surveyor to survey aspects of marine type cargo for their customers. The Cargo Surveyor will look into the cause, nature and extent of damage, loss prevention, theft investigations, contaminations and much more. The Cargo Surveyor will have proven experience in the maritime or logistics sector with a good understanding of cargo handling and how transit chains work. In addition, will have good communication, IT and problem-solving skills. Applications from ex-military personnel are strongly encouraged Key Responsibilities: Be involved in all aspects of cargo surveying Undertaking physical surveys Theft investigations, site / warehouse inspections Overseeing and handling UK subcontracted cases Co-ordinating and overseeing overseas project cargo/pre-shipment surveys Aiding in the mentoring and training of younger staff members (dependant on candidate and experience) Knowledge, skills and qualifications required: Essential: Have previous experience in cargo handling Have an understanding of transit chains Good communication skills and report writing Good problem solving, multi-tasking skills Computer literate/comfortable with all the usual software packages Desirable: Claims experience Heavy haulage / project cargo Seafaring Cargo securing Port operations Salary: £30,000 to £40,000 DOE Benefits: training (including MBACS membership), company car, company pension (5%-5%), income protection, life assurance, healthcare scheme, holidays 20+8
