Reporting to the VP, Programming, Disney+ EMEA, the Director, Content Planning will help evolve and execute the editorial framework and content strategy for our EMEA DTC content offering, to drive maximum subscriber acquisition, engagement and retention.
The Director will create the optimum content release schedule built from all our owned US content pipelines; global, regional and local acquisitions; unpublished library and EMEA, APAC and LATAM Original Productions.
Key responsibilities:- Define the region-wide content planning schedules for DTC programming.
- Shape the overall programming strategy for Disney+ EMEA, identifying priority content genres/categories/titles to attract and retain key audience segments, drawing on data-driven insights on the content preferences and needs of different consumer cohorts.
- Set regional programming priorities, working collaboratively with country programming leads and regional EMEA content team, to create high impact programming events that leverage TWDC brands and franchises.
- Assure optimised cadence of all content types, satisfying our taste base segments and audiences.
- Develop a clear view of learnings and best practices across programming and planning, that is shared and applied across all local markets.
- Execute and update a strong data-led approach to our content planning strategies, in the long, mid and short term, including day to day schedules and reactive programming changes.
- Work with the global programming team in LA to adapt the global strategy to the region where appropriate and serve as the lead relationship for all European programming strategy/needs, working closely with all local heads of programming.
- Work closely with the EMEA content teams responsible for commissioning original content; content acquisitions; content operation and localisation team, merchandising team, analytics and insight team, strategic and propositions team, Global, Regional and Local.
- Consolidate regional and local content calendars and schedules, ensuring efficient alignment of priorities where possible.
- This role requires the ability to shape and lead a high performing team; in an ever changing and evolving environment, work effectively and collaboratively with peers in London, local markets, and the US.
- Significant experience managing a television/video editorial and programming strategy.
- Proven success in an executive level media Video Content/Programming role, ideally with multi-market experience in Europe.
- SVOD/streaming and content windowing experience would be beneficial.
- Ability/experience in selecting content for a service, planning/programming the service, and using data to guide/adjust editorial strategy.
- A passion for, and deep understanding, of content.
- Experience in developing and managing a team of programmers.
- Balanced analytical and creative thinker with ability to leverage data to drive programming strategy/decisions as well as view and understand content editorially.
