About the Company:
We are working in partnership with one of the UK’s most respected and successful privately owned main contractors specialising in planned refurbishment and retrofit projects. With a national presence and a well-earned reputation for excellence, they work extensively with Registered Social Landlords (RSLs), delivering high-quality projects with a strong commitment to sustainability and innovation.
Following the recent award of two major frameworks – each valued at c£20 million over 3 years – we are seeking a high-calibre Operations Manager to take full ownership of these schemes in Hampshire, Berkshire, and Oxfordshire. These frameworks focus on retrofit works under the SHDF (Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund) and represent a significant strategic step in our client’s continued growth.
The Role:
Reporting directly to an Operations Director, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of both contracts in their entirety. This is a critical leadership role requiring operational excellence, stakeholder engagement, and a deep understanding of planned refurbishments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Full operational management of two SHDF retrofit contracts
- Oversee site delivery teams, programme planning, budgets, and client relationships
- Ensure health & safety, quality, and compliance standards are met at all times
- Maintain strong communication and reporting lines with the Director and client
- Identify and mitigate risk, drive continuous improvement and innovation
- Lead, mentor and support project teams, promoting a positive and collaborative culture
Requirements:
- Proven experience in operational leadership within planned refurbishment or retrofit projects, ideally in the social housing sector
- Strong commercial acumen and experience managing P&L
- Track record of managing multi-million-pound contracts or frameworks
- Exceptional people management and client-facing skills
- Familiarity with SHDF or similar retrofit programmes is highly desirable
- Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel within the region
