Job Title: Head of Development

Total Experience Required: 8+ Information Technology/Computers/Software

Relevant Experience Required: 3+ years in Leading the Development Team, 5+ years in software development using C# and .NET, including REST API design

Work Location: Manchester, UK

• Must be currently based in Manchester, UK, or
• Willing to relocate to Manchester, UK from anywhere within Europe or UK
• Candidates outside Europe/UK unfortunately cannot be considered

Job Type: Permanent position with the client

Visa/Work Authorization Status: Candidates must hold a valid work permit or visa to work in the UK

Workplace Type: Hybrid (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday at office)

We are looking for an accomplished Head of Development to join on permanent role in Manchester , operating in a hybrid model (2–3 days onsite). This role is ideal for a technology leader who can drive strategy, manage high-performing development teams, and deliver scalable, secure, and innovative software solutions that align with business goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor software development teams to deliver robust, high-quality solutions
• Establish and enforce software engineering standards and development best practices
• Drive automation, CI/CD, and DevOps to improve efficiency and speed to market
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical roadmaps
• Oversee architecture, design, and resource planning to ensure maintainability and scalability

Top 5 Essential Skills

• Proven leadership in managing and scaling software development teams
• Strong expertise in C# and .NET development, including REST API design
• Deep understanding of Agile and DevOps methodologies
• Hands-on experience with cloud-native development, preferably on Azure
• Ability to balance multiple projects while upholding technical excellence

Top 5 Optional Skills

• Degree in Computer Science or related field
• Experience delivering large-scale enterprise systems
• Certifications in Agile, DevOps, or project management (Scrum Master, SAFe, PMP)
• Strong stakeholder engagement and vendor management experience
