An established biopharmaceutical manufacturer is looking for a Head of Automation, to join their expanding facility, on a permanent basis. This is due to the continual growth of their site. As the Head of Automation, you will be the site leader responsible for developing and implementing an automation strategy aligned with the company’s technology roadmap. You will lead a talented Automation and Computer System Validation (CSV) team while managing external partners and ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards. You will ensure all existing and new process control systems are designed, delivered, and maintained. The role holder will set and achieve strategic goals to help the organisation maintain a competitive manufacturing advantage. Other principal accountabilities include: Site leadership and decision-making authority for Automation to develop, standardise and deploy best practices across the following disciplines Manage and oversee the Automation and Computerised System Validation teams, providing technical and business support To contribute as the Automation Subject Matter Expert (SME) to CAPEX and revenue forecasts supporting site operating and maintenance and capital expenditure planning Develop, maintain, and ensure Automation centred best-practice standards are in place and kept current, through continuous improvement and regular review Raise the profile of the automation team across the wider organisation, influencing stakeholders to utilise the expertise of this team Lead the site Computer System Validation Team (CSV), ensuring that validation burden is minimised To be considered for this opportunity you will need to be an experienced Automation Leader with experience working on either a PCS7 or DeltaV platform. Experience with both packages, would be a distinct advantage. You will need experience working within a highly regulated environment, such as Chemical, Pharmaceutical etc. This role is a predominantly site based role (minimum 4 days a week).
