Company Introduction

We have an exciting opportunity now available with one of our sector-leading business payment solutions clients! They are currently looking for a skilled Group Financial Controller to join their team on a permanent basis.

You will play a pivotal role in the financial stewardship of the organisation. This is a high-impact leadership position, responsible for overseeing the financial control function across the group, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, strengthening internal controls, and supporting strategic decision-making. You will lead and mentor a team of finance professionals and work closely with executive leadership to drive financial integrity and operational efficiency as we scale.

Job Responsibilities/Objectives

  • Lead the group-wide financial reporting process, including monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements
  • Oversee statutory reporting, compliance with IFRS, and liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies
  • Own the financial control framework; ensure robust internal controls, risk management, and process improvements
  • Manage the budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis cycles
  • Lead the annual audit process and coordinate with external advisors
  • Drive finance transformation initiatives, including systems upgrades and automation projects
  • Support M&A activity, including due diligence, integration, and financial structuring
  • Partner with the CFO and senior leadership on strategic projects and business performance reviews
  • Mentor, develop, and scale the finance team to support business growth

Required Skills/Experience

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)
  • Extensive post-qualified experience, including time in a senior finance leadership role
  • Strong technical accounting background, ideally trained in a top-tier audit firm
  • Demonstrable experience in leading consolidated group reporting in a multi-entity structure
  • Deep knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP
  • Proven ability to manage teams, build processes, and drive financial rigour in a scaling business
  • Experience within the fintech, payments, or financial services sector is highly advantageous
  • Strong systems skills (e.g., ERP, reporting tools) and a process-oriented mindset

Desirable Skills/Experience

Although not essential, the following skills are desired by the client:

  • Exposure to regulatory reporting in the UK (FCA or equivalent)
  • M&A integration and change management experience
