A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Equipment Design Authority to join the team responsible for the development, certification, and in-service support of the Launch Management System (LMS) on two major programmes: Sea Ceptor and Land Ceptor. This role ensures the technical integrity of the LMS and reports to the senior systems leadership team. It involves oversight across system design, software and hardware engineering, safety, cybersecurity and in-service support to maintain and evolve a complex functional and physical architecture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design authority function for a complex electronics subsystem to ensure verification, validation and acceptance of the LMS within the wider Weapon System.
- Engage across multiple engineering disciplines to manage design evolution and meet system capability needs.
- Drive the continued development of the LMS architecture, ensuring alignment with customer expectations.
- Manage technical risks and opportunities throughout the product lifecycle.
- Support the career and capability development of the LMS team in line with organisational goals.
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience in the design leadership of computer-based electronic subsystems.
- A sound understanding of systems engineering principles and requirements engineering at various levels.
- Broad technical knowledge of both hardware and software design.
- An ability to validate and verify complex systems, with evidence-gathering to support certification.
- Strong communication skills to work with internal stakeholders and build long-term technical relationships.
