This is a full-time, long-term role to start in as soon as possible. This role working with children with complex SEMH needs requires a strong candidate with lots of experience. The students can display challenging behaviours, so it is important that you are resilient with a patient and calm demeanour. The school are looking for a teaching assistant with previous experience working with behavioural needs. School follows a very child centred approach focusing on achieving the best possible educational outcomes for all children and are incredibly proud of the opportunities and individualised curriculum they provide. SEMH Teaching Assistant responsibilities: Promote, support and facilitate inclusion by encouraging participation of all pupils in learning and extracurricular activities Support the teaching of a broad and balanced curriculum aimed at pupils achieving their full potential in all areas of learning Use effective behaviour management strategies consistently in line with the school’s policy and procedures Organise and manage teaching space and resources to help maintain a stimulating and safe learning environment Observe pupil performance and pass observations on to the class teacher and supervise a class if the teacher is temporarily unavailable Use ICT skills to advance pupils’ learning and undertake any other relevant duties given by the class teacher SEMH Teaching Assistant Qualifications/experience: Experience: A minimum of 3 months’ work/volunteer experience with children or young people in the UK. Qualifications: Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant/childcare.
