Scotstoun Based (Hybrid working) £33.92 an hour Umbrella Inside IR35 6 Month Contract initially. This is a great opportunity to work within one of the UK's leading Defence organisations based In Scotstoun. Hybrid 1-2 days per week.
Core Activity:
- Ensure effective application of processes, including supporting the design, modifications and improvements in the following areas, in accordance with relevant standards and best practice:
- LV Distribution, QPS and Electrical Safety
- LV Protection Systems and Earthing Systems
- LV Cabling and Cable routing
- Converted Supplies
- Portable Apparatus and Domestic Supplies
- Aviation Support
- General and Special Lighting
- Hull Preservation Systems
- Degaussing
Key Accountabilities:
- Develop design specifications under guidance and carry out design activities in line with specifications and all quality and technical standards. Examples of engineering output are mechanical schematic diagrams, mechanical design calculations, and mechanical specifications.
- Participate fully in developing, maintaining and modifying engineering processes and procedures in mechanical engineering areas in response to technical developments and operational need.
- Carry out technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options, and prepare reports with suggested recommendations to support the design of improvements.
- Prepare mechanical technical equipment specifications; develop mechanical designs in line with all specifications and standards.
- Contribute to process improvement within the operational and/or engineering team to deliver continuous improvements in quality, cycle time and asset utilisation.
- Liaise with customers and/or suppliers in assigned areas on engineering matters.
- Provide help and direction to less experienced team members to support both their effective working and their development.
- Contribute to engineering team decisions to support the effective performance of the team.
- Make engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility.
- Answer technical queries about own work within their level of knowledge and competency.
Qualifications/Functional Knowledge:
- Degree qualified likely to be in a technology, engineering or science related discipline.
- Working towards the requirements for registration as Incorporated Engineer or Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council.
- Possesses good knowledge of most aspects within current discipline.
- Able to perform analysis using recognised analytical tools and to make sound judgements.
- Has sufficient capability to be able to make correct trade-off decisions.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to management and peers.
