As our practice continues to grow and diversify, we have an exciting opportunity for a Chartered/Senior Fire Engineer to take the next step in their career and join Bailey Partnership. Established in 1971, Bailey Partnership is a successful and award-winning multidisciplinary practice with seven offices across England. We are registered as a Chartered Practice with the RIBA, RICS, CIBSE, BSRIA, RTPI, CIAT as well as the Association for Project Safety. We are recognised to be industry leaders in fire safety consultancy.
In addition to these appointments, we are working with Housing Associations, Local Authorities, Developers, commercial portfolio holders and residential management companies providing Fire Engineering services. Employing 190+ talented individuals, we provide Architecture, Building Services Engineering, Building Surveying, Interior Design, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Town Planning, Urban Design, Fire Engineering, Structural & Civil Engineering and Specialist Principal Designer services from our offices in Manchester, Maidstone, Chichester, Bristol, Peterborough, Bury St Edmunds, Exeter, Plymouth, Torquay, Cornwall and Edinburgh.
The Practice has provided a range of Fire Engineering services for a number of years and has an excellent reputation. Our Fire Engineering team has grown through repeat business and we have a strong desire to further develop our fire engineering expertise around our multidisciplinary offering. Typical duties undertaken by the team include FRAEW’s/EWS1’s, retrospective fire strategies, design fire strategies, compliance reviews, design reviews, expert witness, site/testing inspections etc.
The successful candidate will be required to work well in a team environment and have the potential to manage a team of engineers. The candidate will be relied upon to help promote the practice and continue to develop and maintain client relationships. Limited travel will be expected within our region to fulfil the requirements of the role and the diverse range of work.
Working from home is available although we would like the individual to be within commuting distance from one of our offices to ensure they feel part of the Bailey Partnership team.
Professional Qualifications/Skills
- An undergraduate degree in Fire Engineering or a suitable equivalent undergraduate or postgraduate qualification;
- A Chartered Fire Engineer is preferred, however any equivalent recognised qualification will be considered for candidates;
- Strong knowledge of UK legislation, standards and regulations, for example, BS9999, RRFSO, PAS79, PAS7, BS7974 and Building Regulations as well as knowledge of other regulatory regimes;
- Experience of undertaking EWS1 survey reports / FRAEW’s;
- Understanding of the DLUHC guidelines regarding external wall systems along with the Building Regulations, or the ability to learn this very quickly;
- Experience of undertaking fire risk assessments across a variety of property types ranging from education, residential, healthcare, industrial and commercial;
- Experience of fire integrity / compartmentation surveys to identify breaches, proposed remedial repairs through to preparation of specification and design.

- A track record of working with teams and prioritising workloads and delivering deadlines;
- Ability to successfully lead on and manage complex projects in a proactive and diligent manner;
- Strong track record in management of projects from inception to completion;
- Client facing, ensuring high standards of technical delivery;
- Able to build long-term relationships;
- Excellent administration skills and good use of the English language;
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office / Google software;
- Hold a full, clean UK driving licence and have your own vehicle.
