Shifts will be Mon to Fri 9am to 5pm – shifts will vary week to week depending on need but will primarily be to cover leave and sickness absence with additional admin assistance from time to time.
Role Overview:
As Medical Secretary, you will provide administrative support for the Medical Secretaries’ department. You will interact with patients, consultants, staff and visitors to facilitate a coordinated pathway of care for patients.
You’ll help us make health happen by:
- Providing admin support to the department.
- Prioritising doctors’ workload accordingly ensuring each practitioner’s work is accurately completed on time.
- Maintaining a polite and friendly manner and a high standard of confidentiality.
- Working as part of a team – showing flexibility of shared tasks to ensure that we provide the best quality service in a pleasant environment for both staff and patients.
- Filing all correspondence, test results and referral letters into the patient’s notes before returning to medical records.
- Receiving telephone messages and relevant queries. Sending/receiving faxed messages and relaying promptly to the doctor concerned.
- Requesting patient information from outside organisations.
- Supporting in the coordination of our multi-disciplinary team meetings to ensure consultant engagement and the smooth running of the meeting.
Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:
- Medical Secretary experience (1 year +)
- MDT (Multi-Disciplinary Team) Experience would be desirable
- Excellent communication skills
