Principal Kubernetes Engineer We are seeking an experienced Principal DevOps Engineer to lead our Kubernetes initiatives. The Kubernetes Infrastructure team is responsible for building and maintaining Kubernetes clusters across on-premises and AWS EKS environments. As Principal Engineer, you’ll drive initiatives around scalability, developer experience, security, and observability, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure a robust, high-performance Kubernetes environment that supports our business needs. Responsibilities: Architect and optimise Kubernetes infrastructure for high availability and scalability. Design and implement autoscaling solutions to manage varying workload demands effectively. Configure and manage Istio service mesh for secure, efficient inter-service communication. Develop and enforce networking policies to enhance security and operational performance. Drive observability, logging, and tracing initiatives to maintain full visibility of cluster and application health. Implement and maintain Helm charts and ArgoCD for automated application deployment and configuration management. Lead cost and capacity planning to ensure efficient resource allocation and operational scalability. Minimum Qualifications: Proven expertise in administration of Kubernetes environments with a large number of clusters, including autoscaling and network management. Strong experience with Istio service mesh (or similar) Proficiency in observability tools for end-to-end monitoring, logging, and tracing in Kubernetes environments. Hands-on experience with Helm charts and ArgoCD for streamlined, GitOps-based CI/CD processes. Solid understanding of networking and network policies within Kubernetes clusters. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Terraform for automated cluster provisioning and management. Proficiency in a programming language like Golang for building custom Kubernetes solutions. Strong grasp of distributed systems and managing large-scale microservices architectures. Experience in cost and capacity planning within Kubernetes infrastructure. Knowledge of Kubernetes security, including access controls and policy management.
