Are you an experienced Electrical Lead Engineer with HV authorisation or high-voltage experience, ready to take the lead on a flagship critical site in Central London? We are working with a global building services provider who is looking to hire a Shift Lead Maintenance Engineer to take ownership of day-to-day engineering operations, technical performance, and shift leadership within a high-profile commercial building. Static Critical Site - Central London

Continental Shift Pattern: 2 Days On, 2 Nights On, 4 Off (12-Hour Shifts)

Salary: £53,000 per annum + Excellent Overtime Rates + Progression Opportunities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead shift operations and support a team of engineers across all electrical and mechanical systems on site.
  • Take responsibility for safe and efficient operation of LV/HV systems, including switching and isolations (where AP trained).
  • Carry out and oversee planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on electrical systems, including power, lighting, BMS, UPS, and emergency systems.
  • Provide hands-on support for mechanical and HVAC systems as required.
  • Ensure all statutory compliance and critical maintenance is up to date, documented, and auditable.
  • Coordinate with site management and client stakeholders for seamless service delivery.
  • Manage shift reports, logbooks, and permit-to-work systems.
  • Mentor junior engineers and delegate tasks as necessary during shift operations.
  • Respond swiftly to alarms, faults, or escalated breakdowns to ensure 24/7 uptime.

Requirements:

  • City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations or equivalent.
  • 17th / 18th Edition certification.
  • HV Authorised Person (desirable) or demonstrable HV switching experience.
  • Strong background in critical building maintenance (data centres, banks, hospitals, etc.).
  • Proven leadership skills and experience overseeing shift engineers.
  • Knowledge of BMS, generators, UPS, AHUs, FCUs, fire alarms, emergency lighting, and building infrastructure systems.
  • Strong understanding of health & safety and statutory compliance in commercial property maintenance.
