Building Manager – Educational Facilities
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Building Manager to oversee our educational facilities in the United Kingdom. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and safety of our school buildings and grounds.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilities Management
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of school buildings and grounds
• Coordinate maintenance, housekeeping, and security activities
• Conduct regular site inspections and complete necessary documentation
• Identify and manage repairs and maintenance needs promptly
Safety and Compliance
• Ensure buildings and facilities comply with health and safety regulations
• Manage fire prevention systems and emergency procedures
• Conduct regular safety checks and maintain accurate records
• Test fire alarms and emergency lighting systems as required
Staff Management
• Supervise and coordinate facilities staff, including maintenance, security, and cleaning teams
• Provide training and development opportunities for team members
• Conduct performance evaluations and manage disciplinary procedures when necessary
Budget and Resource Management
• Prepare and manage facilities budgets
• Monitor costs and control expenses to meet budgetary requirements
• Obtain quotes for building work and liaise with contractors
Stakeholder Management
• Liaise with school administrators, teachers, and other departments regarding facilities needs
• Respond to inquiries from staff, students, and visitors
• Coordinate with external contractors and service providers
Project Management
• Plan and oversee renovation and refurbishment projects
• Manage the implementation of new facilities or services as required
Sustainability and Efficiency
• Implement and maintain energy-efficient practices
• Explore and recommend sustainable solutions for building operations
Qualifications and Skills:
• Proven experience in facilities or building management, preferably in an educational setting
• Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and building maintenance practices
• Excellent leadership and team management skills
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Proficiency in facilities management software and MS Office suite
• Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends
• Relevant degree or professional qualification in facilities management or related field (preferred)
