Position Overview:

The Material Controller will be responsible for the procurement of materials, equipment, and services necessary for Air Atlanta’s operations. This role involves sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing goods and services in alignment with business requirements, while maintaining cost efficiency, quality standards, and timely delivery. The Material Controller will also collaborate with various internal departments to ensure the smooth execution of the supply chain process. Please note that overseas travel and work may be required as part of this role to support global maintenance projects, such as heavy maintenance checks and acceptance checks, and supplier relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

Sourcing & Procurement:

  • Source and identify potential suppliers, evaluate their offerings, and select vendors based on quality, cost, and delivery reliability.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure favourable terms, pricing, and long-term partnerships.
  • Issue purchase orders based on internal needs and inventory levels, ensuring that materials are ordered in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Negotiation:

  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers to secure competitive pricing and favourable contract terms.

Inventory Management:

  • Monitor inventory levels and forecast material requirements based on operational needs, ensuring minimal stockouts or excess inventory.
  • Coordinate with internal departments (e.g., Engineering, Planning) to track demand and adjust purchasing plans accordingly.

Vendor Relations:

  • Communicate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods and services and resolve any issues related to orders, shipments, or invoices.

Budget and Cost Management:

  • Support the budgeting process by tracking purchasing expenses and ensuring procurement activities are aligned with financial constraints.
  • Look for cost-saving opportunities through supplier negotiations, bulk purchasing, or process improvements without compromising quality or efficiency.

Compliance & Documentation:

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements related to procurement and purchasing.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of purchase orders, invoices, and supplier contracts.

Reporting & Analysis:

  • Prepare regular reports on procurement activities and inventory status.
  • Provide recommendations based on data analysis to improve procurement processes and operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Secondary education or equivalent; a degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, ideally in the aviation industry, or relevant engineering experience.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage vendor relationships effectively.
  • Proficient in using procurement software, inventory management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations.
  • Willingness to travel internationally and work overseas as required to support global sourcing and supplier management.
