About the Role :
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Controller to join our team on a part-time basis. Working closely with the Finance Manager, you will play a critical role in strengthening our finance function, driving operational excellence, and supporting the business through its continued growth. This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving company and contribute to its success. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in businesses with a similar turnover and, ideally, experience in the construction industry. The office is based in Hammersmith.
Responsibilitie s:
- Payment Runs: Prepare and schedule all payment transactions, ensuring accuracy and timelines.
- Invoice Verification: Review the validity of larger or more complex invoices.
- Ledger Reviews: Monitor and review debtors and creditors ledgers, resolving aged items or delegating tasks to relevant team members.
- Transaction Posting: Ensure all debit and credit card transactions are accurately posted, including: Current accounts, Prepaid debit cards, Amex credit cards, HSBC credit cards.
- Automated Processes: Monitor direct debits and standing orders, setting up automated transactions in Xero where appropriate and maintaining records.
- Subscription Management: Monitor regular subscriptions to ensure relevance, continuity, and proper payment collection.
- Cashflow Management: Manage overall cash requirements to meet scheduled payments and operational needs.
- Team Support: Assist finance team members with complicated or unusual transactions.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance financial processes and internal controls
- Reporting: Support the Finance Manager with ad-hoc reporting and financial analysis
Skills & Qualificati ons:
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar role in a business with comparable turnover.Ideally, previous experience in the construction industry or a related field.
- Strong understanding of financial processes, including accounts payable/receivable, ledger management, and cashflow forecasting.
- Proficiency in Xero and other financial software.Relevant financial qualifications (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA) are highly desirable.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and provide mentorship to junior team members.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills.Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements.

- 23 Days Holidays (3 to be taken during the Christmas shutdown period)
