The Role:
As a Trade Finance Guarantees Officer , reporting to the Deputy Head of Trade Services, your responsibilities will include:
- Acting as the primary contact for guarantee processing, including opening, amending, and administering guarantees across branches.
- Handling instructions from customers and other banks, ensuring efficient and accurate transaction execution.
- Approving transaction releases and signing off on documents as required.
- Prioritising customer requests to ensure prompt and accurate service.
- Assisting in reconciling guarantees and commission accounts, as well as addressing any trade services-related duties as needed.
- Responding to and managing all customer and branch queries related to guarantees.
Risk & Regulatory Responsibilities:
- Maintaining thorough knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements, including the Bank’s Risk and Compliance policies.
- Reporting any policy or regulatory breaches to senior management.
- Identifying and escalating risks within your area and ensuring all controls are executed accurately to prevent breaches.
Financial Crime Prevention:
- Acting as the “First Line of Defence,” ensuring compliance with Financial Crime Prevention protocols.
- Conducting necessary Due Diligence and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) on all parties in trade transactions.
- Remaining vigilant to suspicious transactions, with prompt reporting to the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO).
Training & Competence:
- Keeping up-to-date with the URDG and completing all mandatory regulatory training.
- Pursuing training opportunities to enhance both technical and behavioural skills relevant to your role.
Conduct & Business Continuity:
- Acting in line with the FCA/PRA Code of Conduct.
- Meeting all business continuity requirements as outlined by the Bank.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years Trade finance Guarantees experience.
- Strong PC skills, particularly with Eximbills, Excel, and database applications.
