JOB PURPOSE
The position is responsible for providing professional and confidential support on all people related matters to support the achievement of the HR KPI’s including, but not limited to supporting the development of People Managers; recruitment and selection, job design, employee relations, performance and discipline management, HR policy interpretation/review, as well as contributing to the support, development, implementation and review of HR initiatives and projects to support the business.
Working closely with the Plant Manager to support the needs of the Rotherham and Winsford locations during a period of investment and growth, ensuring the People Plan is aligned.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Absence Management
Analyse trends and patterns to proactively manage absence
Support and manage wellbeing and disciplinary process in relation to absence and ill health, up to and including ill health capability processes
Employee Relations
Provide timely support and services to managers and employees that are clear, concise and fit for purpose
Maintain and build strong working relationships with managers and stakeholders (H&S, Payroll etc), to understand business requirements and how HR can support them
Support and manage disciplinary and grievance matters in a professional and timely manner, in accordance with legislation and best practice, ensuring correct documentation and procedural fairness
Learning & Development
Provide support and guidance to the site People Managers on managing their teams; using XP and Successfactors to promote best practice ways of working
Organisation Design
Provide input into business cases for business changes, such as organisation structure changes
Periodically review and work with managers to ensure job frameworks are up to date and accurately reflect position requirements
Performance & Reward
Support organisation performance management processes
Liaise with Payroll to ensure information impacting salaries, wages, allowances and other payments are processed accurately
Policies & Procedures
Maintain consistency in the application of policies and procedures
Ensure sufficient knowledge of industry best practices an legislation to ensure policies comply and help to build on organisation and people capabilities
Resourcing & Talent Planning
Support the attraction, development and retention of key talent
Contribute and manage the recruitment and selection processes as required
Provide advice on remuneration decisions within designated approvals, escalating where required
Service Delivery & Info
Support starters and leavers processes, including onboarding & induction, and exit interviews
Complete month end reporting accurately and timely
Strive for excellence in the delivery of HR services
Empower others through coaching, self-service, and easily accessible information
Remain up to date on industry best practices, and provide support to audits to ensure compliance
Provide ad hoc reports as needed
Support HR projects on the employee lifecycle, including but not limited to Engagement; global compliance and talent
SKILLS/QUALS
Educated to degree level or equivalent in HR or related discipline
CIPD Level 5 is desirable
Demonstrated knowledge and experience of HR principles and their application including experience in coaching and mentoring and ability to approach people issues from a commercial perspective, delivering value-add HR services
Knowledge and understanding of relevant workplace legislation
Competent in MS Office suite (particularly Excel), with experience using HR systems
Ability to work under strict deadlines and targets
Collating reports using monthly data
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
- High level interpersonal skills, including assertiveness and developed ability to communicate at management level
- Collaborative and engaging, working with Managers with conflicting priorities
- Self-motivated and able to work autonomously.
- Very good understanding of procedures and processes.
