Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated Transactional Surveyor to support the efficient management of our property portfolio. This role is central to delivering best value from the Council’s land and property assets, through expert handling of property acquisitions, disposals, leases, and other transactions.

You will play a key role in enabling the Council to meet its strategic goals—supporting regeneration, housing delivery, and community services—while ensuring compliance with statutory duties and internal governance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead on property transactions, including acquisitions, disposals, lease renewals, licences, and wayleaves
  • Provide strategic property advice to support service delivery and estate rationalisation
  • Prepare reports, valuations, and recommendations for Cabinet, committees, and senior management
  • Negotiate with external parties, including developers, tenants, landowners, and legal representatives
  • Ensure transactions are conducted in line with public sector regulations and value-for-money principles
  • Maintain accurate asset records and contribute to property reviews and asset performance reporting
Skills & Experience Required:
  • Degree in surveying or a related discipline; MRICS or working toward chartered status preferred
  • Strong track record of handling property transactions, ideally within a public sector or mixed-use environment
  • Knowledge of local authority governance, statutory requirements, and procurement processes
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Familiarity with property databases and GIS systems is desirable

If you have the relevant experience and are looking to make a positive impact through your work, we would love to hear from you!
