Job Title: Deputy Manager – Children\’s Home

Location: Northampton, Northamptonshire

Salary: £31,000k – £38,000k

About the Role:

Our client, a leading provider of residential childrens care, is seeking a skilled and passionate Deputy Manager to join their dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven individual with experience in the childrens residential care sector to support the daily operations of a children\’s home and play a key role in ensuring high-quality care for vulnerable young people.

As a Deputy Manager, you will work closely with the Registered Manager to oversee the day-to-day management of the home, ensuring the delivery of high standards of care in compliance with Ofsted regulations and legislation. You will assist in the supervision of staff and help provide a nurturing, supportive environment for the children and young people under your care.

Key Responsibilities:

– Assist the Registered Manager in the operational management of the childrens home, ensuring compliance with all regulations and standards.

– Provide leadership and guidance to the care staff team, ensuring they are properly trained, supported, and motivated.

– Support the creation and implementation of care plans tailored to meet the individual needs of children and young people.

– Ensure the safety and well-being of children and young people by adhering to safeguarding procedures and promoting a positive, caring environment.

– Supervise and mentor staff, providing regular supervision, coaching, and support to promote best practice.

– Be actively involved in the recruitment and development of staff, including participating in the interview process and supporting staff induction.

– Assist in monitoring and maintaining high standards of care, record-keeping, and case management.

– Participate in on-call duties, providing out-of-hours support when required. ? Support with the preparation and delivery of Ofsted inspections, ensuring the home is ready for inspection and meets regulatory requirements.

– Build strong working relationships with external agencies, families, and stakeholders to ensure effective care coordination.

– Contribute to the development and review of policies, procedures, and risk assessments to ensure the home runs efficiently and safely.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

-Minimum 2 years experience within a childrens home, with demonstrated leadership skills.

-Level 3 Children and Young People Workforce Qualification (or equivalent). ? A sound understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices. ? Knowledge of Childrens Home Regulations and Ofsted standards. ? Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

– Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.

– Passion for supporting and developing young people, with a strong commitment to their care and development.

Desirable Skills:

– Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards).

– Previous experience in preparing for Ofsted inspections and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
