Job – Specialist Oncology & Haematology Pharmacist
Location – Leaders in Oncology (LOC), London

Job Description
The post holder will work with the Lead Oncology/Haematology Pharmacist, Lead QA Pharmacist and to assist in the daily running of a safe and effective pharmacy service. The post holder will maintain and develop the highest standards of patient-focused care in the provision of the pharmacy service.
Duties & Responsibilities
- To assist the Lead Pharmacists in the daily running of all areas of the pharmacy department, including designated time in the aseptic unit, dispensary, outpatients discharge, clinical verification of SACT, e-Prescribing & Protocols and clinical audit.
- To train, supervise and contribute to the continued learning of the Specialist Oncology & Haematology Pharmacists (NHS band 7 – equivalent)
- Carry out validations of aseptic products on the gravimetric manufacturing software solution and dispensary items on the dispensing software in the absence of the lead pharmacists.
- To be responsible for the clinical verification of electronic orders of parenteral and oral SACT alongside the resident medical officer team and nurses adopting a multidisciplinary approach in a safe, accurate and effective manner.
- To supervise the coordination of discharge planning and implementation in conjunction with the medicines management technician and clinic staff, through involvement with medical and nursing staff identifying discharge times for patients, accuracy checking medicines against the TTO letter and dispensing.
- To undertake patient counselling on all patients ensuring patients understand their discharge medication.
- To ensure that accurate drug histories are obtained for identified patients by communication with the patient/carer and/or by liaising with external organisations including GP practices, community pharmacies and nursing/residential homes, or other facilities within HCA Healthcare UK.
Skills & Experience
- Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Additional post graduate clinical qualifications e.g. Certificate (or working towards). Clinical Pharmacy in Pharmacy Practice.
- Hospital pharmacy experience, including technical, dispensary and clinical services preferably in oncology.
