Founding Lead Engineer in City of London

Our client, a promising technology firm based in London, is currently seeking a Founding Lead Engineer to join their highly ambitious team. They are developing a retail platform aiming to dominate the imports and exports industry and aspire to become the Walmart of their sector. This is a permanent role with an exciting opportunity to work closely with the founder and help the company progress from pre-seed to Series A funding.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the CTO and Co-founder to build out the system architecture
• Provide guidance and mentorship to two junior team members
• Perform hands-on work on the inventory and finance backend, along with AI agents for operations
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable solutions using Python, Django, and Postgres
• Ensure system reliability using systemd and other relevant tools

Job Requirements:

• Experience in Python and Django development
• Knowledge of Postgres database management
• Familiarity with systemd for system and service management
• Management experience or a strong technical and academic background is advantageous
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, startup environment
