Design Engineer The Opportunity Due to our ongoing growth we are looking for a Design Engineer from a Mechanical, Building Services or similar professional background to join our specialist, multi-disciplinary team of Engineers based out of our London office in Holborn. As part of the Engineering Design team you will be involved in producing a broad range of conceptual to fully detailed designs covering things such as District and Communal Heating Systems, Energy Centres, Trigeneration Solutions and Heat Pumps Due to the nature of the role you will be involved in projects at a variety of stages and locations utilising a range of technologies requiring initial conceptual work, site investigations, surveys, client meetings, project submissions and presentations. Given the diverse range of our projects and technologies it is expected that no project will be the same. One week you may find yourself involved in the design of renewable energy solutions to support with a hospital’s decarbonisation, and another week you may be involved with a multimillion-pound design project for a district heating scheme with a local authority. The Role Reporting to the Senior Design Engineer you will be responsible for: * Supporting the design of distributed energy schemes, energy centres, district heating networks and other major projects * Interpreting, appraising and documenting client requirements * Carrying out calculations, equipment selection and process operation * Producing schematics and detailed drawings * Maintaining an awareness of cost implications within the design process * Dealing with design issues and minimising their impact * Ensuring compliance with CDM requirements and in-house processes * Conducting HAZOP studies and Risk Assessments * Assisting in specifying mechanical aspects for tendering works The Person Skills/Experience * Educated to at least HNC/HND level in Mechanical, Building Services or similar Engineering discipline * Preferably educated to Degree level * Design experience in at least one of the following fields: Building Services, CHP, Boilers/Heating, HVAC, Steam, Air Handling, Cooling, Renewable Energy (e.g Solar or Heat Pumps), or similar * Competent in AutoCAD * A full UK manual driving licence Who are Vital Energi?
