Role: Principal Designer / CDM Consultant Salary : Competitive Salary (DOE) + Bonus Location: Billericay, Essex Duration: Permanent Job Wanted: As a CDM Consultant, you will play a vital role in assisting the Project Management department with the running and coordination of the pre-construction phase of a project, ensuring compliance with the CDM Regulations 2015. You’ll be assessing the risks to projects, applying health & safety knowledge, liaising with contractors and assisting with H&S decision making, working closely with clients, designers, and contractors to identify and mitigate risks, whilst ensuring safe and compliant project delivery. Key Responsibilities: Act as the Principal Designer as required, ensuring compliance with CDM 2015 regulations. Collaborate with project teams to identify and manage risks throughout the design and construction phases. Provide CDM and health & safety advice to clients, designers, and contractors. Review and prepare pre-construction information, risk assessments, and method statements. Attend project meetings to provide guidance on health and safety issues and promote a culture of safety awareness. Conduct site visits to assess compliance with health and safety standards. Deliver CDM training and workshops to project stakeholders. Prepare and maintain project documentation, including Health and Safety Files. Compose health & safety reports in line with company and client requirements. Experience Needed: Experience in a similar CDM or health & safety consultancy role, preferably in the education and healthcare sectors. In-depth knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and associated health and safety legislation. NEBOSH Construction Certificate, or equivalent qualification. Membership with a relevant professional body (e.g., APS, IOSH, or equivalent). Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders. Experience working on projects in sensitive environments such as schools or healthcare facilities. Design background or understanding of architectural, structural, or M&E processes.
