Role Overview

We are seeking a Principal Engineer / Associate Engineer for our Building Services practice, based in Epsom, with over 100 engineers in the LSE Region. You will collaborate with bid teams to identify business opportunities, develop comprehensive bid responses, and manage a team to deliver project design services.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical discipline; Chartered status with a relevant institution; minimum 7 years experience.
• Ability to influence senior management and peers, with a positive challenge mindset.
• Experience in secure projects such as Defense/Nuclear is preferred.
• High technical standing as an Electrical Building Services Engineer.
• Extensive project experience with high technical competence.
• Experience in major multi-discipline design projects.
• Leadership and people management skills, with potential to lead a team.
• Good commercial awareness, business management skills, and results orientation.
• Customer-focused with strong relationship management skills.
• Effective communication skills and professional client engagement.
• Structured approach to report writing and information collation.

ResponsibilitiesCommercial

• Identify and secure project opportunities; take commercial responsibility for team delivery.
• Bid for projects in line with business guidelines; manage project costs.

People

• Build and maintain client relationships; develop client management strategies.
• Manage team performance, provide leadership, and undertake appraisals and personal development.
• Lead by example, recognizing and nurturing talent to build a high-performing team.

Technical

• Full technical responsibility for Building Services team output.
• Familiar with industry standards and guidelines.
• Communicate and challenge design team members for optimal solutions.
• Design and lead Electrical and Building Services teams; extensive electrical design experience.
• Understand key design considerations for projects.

Business Development

• Develop and implement marketing plans; produce bid documents and marketing materials.
• Build and nurture a high-profile client base.

The role is based in Epsom, requiring attendance at the office, site, or client locations three days a week, with hybrid working options. Travel to client sites and project locations will be necessary.
