Senior Interior Designer for luxury interior design studio in West London.
A high end award-winning design studio is on the hunt for a hospitality Senior Interior Designer to join their ambitious team. This stylish studio has accumulated a wide portfolio of unique hospitality (F&B) and high end residential design projects. They get involved in almost every aspect of designing the spaces they create, from the building exterior, terraces and gardens to the design of every element of the interiors, from finishes to FF&E, creation of original art and lots of bespoke lighting and joinery design.
This role will see you work on exciting UK and international projects, working alongside the creative directors. Whilst very much running the design, client handling and management of multiple commercial and residential interior projects day-to-day. This is a full time office position.
Some responsibilities for this role include the following:
- Act as the creative lead designer on hospitality projects across the studio overseeing output with the creative director from concept to completion
- Leading and inspiring the junior members of the team, problem-solving and mentoring
- Once a project is won: setting up, planning, scheduling timings plans, overseeing the creation of drawing issue lists and generally creating design project strategy
- Ensuring design output meets the brief and comes to life brilliantly and within budget
- Overseeing the creation of exciting concepts, developed design schemes, detailed technical design packs, specifications and tender documentation for sharing with clients and contractors (inputting your own design ideas)
- Doing hands-on concept and AutoCAD and hand-sketching, art directing CGIs, sourcing, procurement and putting together schemes and all other creative assets and project documentation relating to projects
- Briefing, delegating, overseeing and directing others in all of the above, including directing and editing others’ design work, sourcing and procurement activity
- Leading site meetings and internal studio meetings with clients, suppliers and contractors, also mentoring others to do so, giving them a clear role in meetings
- Managing deign project teams and tracking scope of works and invoicing
- Managing project budgets, estimates and reconciliations
- Training other team members in creativity, project leadership and client handling
The ideal candidate will have the following skills/attributes:
- A really exciting design portfolio across hospitality design both highly creative and technically strong
- Experience working in a client-facing capacity at a senior level in established, stylish design agencies
- Strong understanding of project set-up, procedures, processes, programme, budgets and contractual arrangements
- Evidence of successful experience running large-scale, stylish projects, specifically Hospitality & F&B
- Strong construction and onsite knowledge and experience
- Inventive, stylish sourcing and specifying of products, lighting, furniture and decorative finishes (FF&E)
- Experience negotiating with suppliers to secure best price, terms and value for clients
- Proven experience working with fabricators and specialist suppliers and manufacturers to design and procure bespoke products and finishes
- Excellent organisation skills and proven ability working well under pressure
- Ability to prioritise and deliver projects within agreed budgets and timescales
- Excellent technical skills with a beady eye for detail
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (essential), same with InDesign, Photoshop, basic SketchUp and Microsoft Office/Excel
- Great communication skills and staying ahead of to-do lists
