A Manufacturing Project Engineer is required by a leading engineering organisation based in Chester. My client specialises in the design, manufacture, and installation of steel products providing high quality, tailored solutions for customers in the UK, Europe and Worldwide. All work is carried out from their head offices in Chester, offering state-of-the-art design, fabrication, machining, and assembly work.
As the Manufacturing Project Engineer you will be working closely with the Quality and Production Managers and will be responsible for all manufacturing processes within our special products business (Machining, Fabricating & Casting). From defining routings, creating manufacturing instructions, writing & standardising CNC Programs, estimating machining/casting times, modifying/buying fixtures and tooling, equipment capability, implementing a 5's & lean philosophy, optimising and monitoring processes whilst integrating HSE and quality standards.
Key responsibilities and tasks will include:
- Evaluate and develop manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors.
- Capital project justifications through to implementation and commissioning.
- Improve manufacturing processes by analysing and planning workflow.
- Assist with the generation, implementation and audits of risk assessments, manufacturing instructions and HSE Improvements.
- Ensure correct tooling, equipment & fixtures with regards to the manufacturing solution and manufacturing instructions.
- Produce, control, and standardise all manufacturing instructions to produce conforming products efficiently.
Key skills and experience required for this role will ideally include:
- HNC/HND or equivalent in an engineering discipline and a Lean Manufacturing qualification would be viewed advantageously.
- Experience with knowledge of ISO90001 Quality Management Systems.
- Ideally, you'll have a background in Programming CNC Lathes & Milling.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes in fabrication, machining, castings, etc.
- Proven Project/Root Cause problem solving skills.
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Computer literate with MS Office, MS Project and Excel.
