Scope:
To ensure a high quality of cost planning supported by consistent data, accurate reporting and successful financial closure.
Responsibilities:
To ensure a high quality of cost planning supported by consistent data, accurate reporting and successful financial closure.
- Set challenging cost plans / targets for projects to deliver to, and manage all the budgeting, cost management and contingency allowances.
- Ensure that project cost plans are robust and integrated, represent value for money.
- Identify opportunities to reduce cost and drive potential value engineered solutions.
- Maintain awareness of innovations and market trends to help identify opportunities to reduce life cycle costs.
- Manage the impact of inflation and ensure forecasting is aligned with recognized tracking indexes.
- Ensure costs are monitored and reported timely and accurately in accordance with the project process, consulting the Project Controls Manger and Project Planner to ensure cash flow forecasts are aligned to programme and scope.
- Ensure good explanations can be supplied to support any variances in planned versus actual costs and identify resultant actions for the following month.
- Test and validate risk allowances in conjunction with the risk manager and ensure the project reports are aligned with cost plans.
- Provide cost assurance / governance
- Provide constructive but determined challenge to proposed change and own the financial impact of proposed changes.
- Ensure all cost data on change forms are completed timely and accurately to enable first time sign-off by designated signatories.
- Support the consistent application of the project Cost Management processes
- Support the PMO in activities and initiatives to improve cost management, integrated Project Controls, performance measurement and analysis.
Education/ Experience
- Ideally degree qualified in engineering, construction, business or related field, or demonstrated equivalent and related experience.
- Proven experience with Project Controls function on major projects
- Ideally in Major Power or Utilities sector exp (Nuclear, Power or Utilities)
- Solid and provable experience with cost, schedule and supervision responsibilities
Skills
- Knowledgeable and experienced utilising and administering Primavera P6.
- Expert knowledge using Excel.
- Knowledge and experience utilising Cost Management Tools (Costpoint, SAP, etc.).
- Working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required
- Currently hold SC or prepared to go through the SC process.
