The predicted salary is between 28300 - 31900 £ per year.
Salary: Grade G. Scale 23 - £33,366 to Scale 28 - £37,938 plus pension, continuing training and tool allowance.
Hours Per Week: 36 hours over 3 days (3 days on 4 days off) plus additional contracted hours during November to March.
Base Location: Tame Street Depot, Tame Street, Stalybridge, SK15 1ST.
The Role: Based at Tame Street, Stalybridge, you will be an enthusiastic and talented HGV/light vehicle mechanic with the drive to keep our Transport Fleet on the move. This is an opportunity to utilise, and further develop your existing skills carrying out routine maintenance, testing, diagnostic and repair work to our large fleet of HGVs, light vehicles, plant and specialist equipment. You will be joining a team of vehicle/plant fitters and have a manager who is supportive and keen to facilitate your development.
You should be organised, have good written and oral communication skills, be customer focused, hold a current driving licence (LGV Category C desirable) and trained to NVQ Level 3/City & Guilds (or equivalent) in a Heavy Vehicle Maintenance/Repair discipline. If you’re from a light vehicle or agricultural background, you are encouraged to apply. Training will be given to the right candidate.
About You:
- Literate and Numerate
- NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and repair (Heavy Vehicle) / or City Guilds Certificate or equivalent
- Possession of a Class B driving licence.
- Previous experience in the diagnosis of faults, repairs and maintenance of municipal vehicles/plant and equipment.
- Good working knowledge of hydraulic systems.
- Good working knowledge/skills in the diagnosis of faults and repairs of electrical systems.
- The ability to demonstrate a good understanding of Operator Licensing requirements and undertakings.
- Experience in the use of computer based diagnostic equipment.
- The ability to demonstrate a good understanding of Health and Safety requirements and regulations, relating to large automotive workshops.
- Proven experience of working within a large workshop environment.
- The ability to work on own initiative and with minimal supervision.
- The ability to work at height.
- Possession of comprehensive set of tooling relevant to vehicle maintenance.
