Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Estimator to join our client's team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for mechanical systems in construction and engineering projects, including HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems. This role requires a thorough understanding of mechanical systems, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate with various teams to ensure project success. Key Responsibilities * Estimate Preparation: Analyze project drawings, specifications, and scope to prepare detailed mechanical estimates. * Cost Analysis: Calculate labour, materials, and equipment costs, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids. * Bid Preparation: Assist in preparing comprehensive bids and proposals for new projects, ensuring competitiveness and profitability. * Project Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to align estimates with project requirements. * Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate cost overruns. * Reporting: Provide detailed cost reports and maintain up-to-date records of estimates and budgets. * Value Engineering: Propose cost-effective alternatives while maintaining project quality and standards. * Market Research: Stay current with market trends, material costs, and industry standards to ensure accurate estimates. Qualifications & Skills * Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Mechanical Estimator or in a similar role within the construction or engineering industry. * Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred but not essential). * Technical Skills: * Proficient in estimating software (e.g., Trimble, FastEST, or similar). * Strong knowledge of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, piping). * Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards. * Analytical Abilities: Strong attention to detail, accuracy in cost estimation, and problem-solving skills. * Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both internal teams and external stakeholders. * Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment
