Are you ready to launch a career in sustainability, compliance, and ethical sourcing within Fresh Produce? Our client is offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated and detail-focused individual to join their Retail division in Kent as a Technical Source Compliance Apprentice. This is a hands-on role supporting both local and overseas teams with projects spanning ethical trade, health & safety, sustainability, and supplier compliance.
As part of the apprenticeship, you'll also study towards a Level 4 Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Practitioner qualification - gaining a strong foundation in one of the most in-demand and impactful fields.
What you'll be doing:
- Source Technical & Compliance Support
- Manage supplier documentation: raw materials, packaging specs, and traceability.
- Help maintain due diligence systems and ensure compliance with food safety and customer standards.
- Support pesticide and microbiology testing schedules.
- Work with platforms like Sedex and SIZA to maintain ethical sourcing visibility.
- Upload and organise technical data across internal and customer systems.
- Health & Safety Coordination
- Conduct risk assessments and support emergency procedure updates.
- Monitor and replenish First Aid stock.
- Perform display screen (VDU) assessments and maintain compliance with site policies.
- Additional Projects
- Contribute to living wage data collection.
- Assist with benchmarking activities and store visits.
- Engage with sustainability initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
What we're looking for:
- Interest or experience in food/fresh produce is a plus.
- Good communicator - written and verbal.
- Highly organised and detail-oriented.
- Confident with Microsoft Office and digital systems.
- A natural problem solver who works well independently and in a team.
- Someone who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
Qualifications & Requirements
- This is an entry-level role and would suit a school leaver just finishing their A levels or BTECH course.
- Minimum 2 years further education post-GCSE.
- Some knowledge of food safety, compliance or H&S desirable.
- You must be eligible for a Level 4 apprenticeship (training provided alongside the role).
- Full driving licence and car.
The Offer:
- £22,000 - £26,000 depending on experience.
- 40 hours/week | Monday - Friday (weekend work on a rota once up to speed).
- 25 days holiday + bank holidays.
- Pension scheme: 3% employer / 5% employee (auto-enrol after 3 months).
- Probation period: 3 months.
- 1-month notice period post-probation.
