Working in Opcare Clinical Services (OCS) Opcareβs London and surrounding area covers 13 NHS Trusts, including some of the most prestigious trusts in London. This includes Great Ormond Street, The National Hospital of Neuro and Neurosurgery, UCLH and Chelsea and Westminster. This role is an excellent opportunity to have a key influence within the services to advance and improve the delivery of service. OCS runs a varied clinic schedule with general orthotic clinics as well as some of the leading MDT clinics in the UK, from joint diabetic clinic with the leading international diabetic podiatry surgeon, complex neuro clinic at NHNN, scoliosis clinic, complex paediatric clinics at Great Ormond Street and complex KAFO clinics. This dynamic range of extended practices and complex MDTs provides a great opportunity to be exposed to interesting and varied caseloads. OCS covers London and the surrounding area, the post holder will be expected to travel to support and mentor junior staff members, while being influential in the clinical service development. Job Summary We are currently seeking experienced Orthotists who are looking for an opportunity to develop their career and be a part of our large and dynamic team in OCS. They will act as a Clinical Lead, reporting to the Regional Clinical and Operational Lead (RCOL). The role holder will be an integral member of the senior clinical team, with direct line management responsibility, providing mentoring support to less experienced orthotists, graduates and students; as well as guiding and supporting more experienced staff to continue their professional development. In OCS there are a wide variety of MDTs and extended practice clinics including, but not limited to: Paediatrics clinic Diabetic foot clinics Theatre castings KAFO clinics The post holder will be a key member of the senior team and will be key in providing excellent patient care, while being influential in the development of the clinical OCS services. Key Responsibilities The key responsibilities of the role: Ensures the clinical team meets targets and is engaged with company objectives. Attends resource meetings with RCOL, assists as a point of contact when RCOL is on leave. Ensure the delivery of high-quality care for all patients and the smooth running of the OCS services. Supporting, developing, and mentoring less experienced orthotists, graduates and students. Help coordinate and contribute to in-service training sessions. Building and maintaining a good working relationship with multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs). Being a direct clinical escalation point to the NHS management. Reports on regional clinical activities to the senior management team, advising any relevant issues to RCOL. To advance the delivery of the orthotics service by embracing evidence-based medicine and the result of clinical audit in line with the requirements of clinical governance. Supporting and contributing to Opcare services by contributing to our national care pathways, protocols, and leadership on orthotics. Working with the Regional Clinical and Operational Lead and production teams to provide excellent orthotic devices as prescribed. Leading on the use of newer technology and innovations e.g. systems and 3D print, to improve service delivery. Share your knowledge and experience with junior colleagues and offer mentorship to graduates. The successful candidates will join an enthusiastic and busy team, and be supported with local, regional, and national training to develop their skills to support the service.
