Workshop Manager (Stone & Porcelain) Location: Melton Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 per year (DOE) Contract: Full-time, permanent. Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM Verus Recruitment is thrilled to partner with a rapidly growing, well-known in-house retailer in the Loughborough area to present this exciting opportunity for a Stone & Porcelain Workshop Manager. About the Company Our client operates in the materials sector, delivering exceptional service to prestigious clients. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the timely production of bespoke orders and leading the company’s samples division. Role Overview You will oversee the daily operations of the Stone & Porcelain Workshop, managing the rework and finishing of porcelain and natural stone tiles. This includes cutting, polishing, and edge finishing using factory machinery and tools. With a hands-on, people-focused approach, you’ll lead a team of operatives, ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and quality while identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities Leadership: Inspire and manage a dedicated team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration. Health & Safety: Maintain rigorous health and safety standards, embedding a culture of safety awareness. Operational Excellence: Plan and schedule production, ensuring orders and samples are completed to specification and on time. KPI Development: Support the development and evolution of performance metrics to drive efficiency and maintain high standards. MRP/ERP Systems: Leverage systems to optimize production and ensure seamless operational processes. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with sales and samples teams to align priorities and workflows. Machinery Maintenance: Oversee maintenance schedules and ensure proper record-keeping. Process Improvement: Drive standardisation and efficiency within the workshop, identifying and implementing procedural enhancements. General Site Management: Share responsibility for overall site operations with the Samples Team Manager. About You We’re looking for a proactive, hands-on leader with strong technical expertise and a commitment to excellence. Essential Skills & Experience: 3+ years of experience as a Workshop/Production Supervisor or Manager in a manufacturing environment. Background in engineering, manufacturing, or production. Experience managing teams of 5+ employees. Familiarity with stone fabrication or heavy machinery operations. Exceptional leadership and people management skills. Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities. IT proficiency, including MRP/ERP systems and Microsoft Office. Commutable to Melton Warehouse five days per week. A mindset geared toward continuous improvement and innovation. Desirable Attributes: Experience with MRP/ERP system implementations.
