What’s the position?

As the US Tax Manager you will report into the Director – Tax. As the Tax Manager your role is primarily focused on US tax although in time it could grow, by agreement, to cover other markets. The role has primary responsibility for all US state and federal income tax reporting and compliance obligations for the group. You will also be expected to advise on the US tax issues arising from international transactions and investments, M&A and any matters relating to overseas profits and losses from a US-headquartered group perspective. The role has worldwide responsibility for all tax accounting and reporting including provisions under ASC 740 and IAS 12/IFRIC 23 and all related tax reporting and tax accounting including Transfer Pricing adjustments and CBCR as appropriate.The US Tax Senior Manager is also responsible for working with other areas of Finance and Customer Operations to ensure the right guidance, processes and controls are in place across all tax flows including those related to player-related gambling activities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Financial statements: Prepare worldwide income tax provisions and tax accounting outputs under ASC 740 and IAS 12/IFRIC 23 for all Hard Rock Digital entities including preparation of the financial statement footnotes relevant to all tax related disclosures.
  • Tax accounting: Maintain income tax related records for all Hard Rock Digital entities including deferred tax records, tax attributes, reconciliation of tax return differences, and calculation of deferred tax asset/liability, valuation allowance considerations, assessment of Uncertain Tax Positions and FIN 48 analysis.
  • Tax strategy: contribute to discussions on group tax strategy providing input and analysis in respect of tax cash and ETR expectations and deliverables.
  • Income tax returns: Manage preparation of all US tax returns for corporations, partnerships and other legal entities, as required, including tax estimates and other filings as necessary.
  • Tax examination management: Respond to all federal/state/foreign information document requests, pertaining to the USReview and analyze proposed audit adjustments, and preparation e protests for any disputed adjustments and/or negotiation of audit settlements.
  • Other items: As requested, manage, coordinate and review transfer pricing requirements, cash management, inter-company agreements, country-by-country filing requirements, mergers and acquisition due diligence, tax planning and any other tax relevant items.
  • To work collaboratively with colleagues and to promote tax as a service to internal stakeholders notably legal, operations, accounting, treasury and executive directors. Notably partnering with:
  • Operations teams to ensure efficient and compliant processes are in place for reporting and payment of all company and player-related taxes on gambling activity giving clear guidance and providing actionable insight as a trusted business partner;
  • Legal teams to review and advise on contracts entered into by Hard Rock Digital’s US entities;
  • Internal Controls to ensure robust processes and controls are operate and are suitably evidenced across all relevant tax flows and decisions;
  • Accounting to ensure all internal and external reporting deadlines requiring tax inputs are are met with accuracy and to contribute to group-wide finance initiatives requiring tax input

Job requirements

What are we looking for?

  • Experience: 5 years of related diversified tax experience in a large corporation and/or public accounting firm. Relevant sector experience, either online or land-based, is an advantage but not essential. A sound working knowledge and experience of ASC 740 and IFRS 12/IFRIC 23 is however required.
  • Business Acumen: Proven ability to add value in a financial business partnering or finance operations capacity.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with a keen attention to detail and the ability to resolve complex issues efficiently.
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with tight deadlines and shifting priorities.
  • Team Collaboration: A proactive team player with excellent interpersonal skills, capable of fostering collaborative relationships across departments.
  • Detail Orientation: Meticulous attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy and integrity in all aspects of work.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of US tax accounting, reporting and compliance is essential.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with Excel skills.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to adjust working hours to accommodate Eastern Time zone requirements. Some travel for in person meeting sessions as needed.
