Our Secondary School client, who are part of a thriving education Trust in Essex, are seeking a SENCO to join their team in September 2025, on a full-time permanent basis. The Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) will lead and manage the provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring high-quality teaching, effective support strategies, and robust interventions are in place for our SEND students.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the strategic development of SEND provision across the school
- Identify and assess students’ needs and ensure appropriate support is in place
- Coordinate the work of the Learning Support team and liaise with external agencies
- Develop and implement EHCPs and ensure compliance with current legislation
- Support and train staff in best practices for inclusion and differentiation
- Monitor the progress and wellbeing of SEND students and ensure effective interventions
- Communicate regularly with parents/carers, staff, and governors about SEND provision
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential
- National Award for SEN Coordination (or a willingness to complete it within 3 years)
- Proven experience working with SEND students, ideally in a secondary school setting
- Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and current legislation
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
- A commitment to inclusion and raising achievement for all students
