We are now recruiting Workshop Shift Supervisors at Chichester Workshop on a Permanent contract.
Working Hours: Full time - 39.5 hours per week (rotating shift pattern; week 1: 06:00 - 14:24, week 2: 13:35 - 22:00). You will be required to work 1 in 3 Saturdays (with a weekday day off).

A bit about the role:
With a Fleet of over 49,000 vehicles, including traditional fuel and electric vehicles, LCVs and HGVs, maintaining our vehicles is a true team effort. Reporting to the Fleet Workshop Manager, the Shift Supervisor provides a pivotal supporting role to the Workshop management team. Responsible for leading operations across a shift in line with production planning and control requirements, you’ll deploy agreed processes and staff resources to ensure the Workshop operates safely and delivers high levels of quality and efficiency. You’ll be first line leadership delivering Weekly Team Meetings, shift huddles and have involvement in the remedial approach to conduct issues whilst ensuring a Technicians’ wellbeing following return from sick absence. You’ll perform a full range of inspections, diagnostic, maintenance, and repair procedures on a range of vehicles, trailers, and mechanical equipment, when required. You’ll use your own personal toolkit to undertake routine maintenance and repair light / heavy goods vehicles. You’ll also have access to specialist tooling and shared equipment in our modern, fully equipped workshops. You’ll perform effective stock control processes, ensuring accurate and timely completion of work orders and associated vehicle documentation to meet both business and legal requirements.
A bit about you:
- Experienced leader: you’ve managed a team of vehicle technicians with excellent knowledge of H&S and have the ability to communicate technical issues to the team.
- Qualified mechanic: you’re fully qualified to an advanced level (IMI Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle or equivalent). You’ve got your own toolkit for standard repairs.
- Varied vehicle experience: Proven Vehicle Technician experience working on a wide range of vehicles, for example LCV / HGV.
- Valid UK driving license: You hold a full manual UK driving license.
- High working standards: you take pride in your work and do what is necessary to make sure the job is done effectively.
- Flexible to service demands: you’re able to work on a flexible shift rota. You’re always willing to support your team where necessary.
