Overview

A well-established organisation within the removals and specialist logistics sector is seeking a proactive and experienced Operations Manager to join their team. This role offers the chance to lead daily operations, manage resources effectively, and ensure seamless delivery of both standard and complex projects. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in enhancing efficiency, driving service excellence, and supporting continued business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth planning and execution of projects.
  • Lead, develop, and support operational teams including drivers, crew members, and logistics staff.
  • Manage scheduling, resource allocation, and dispatch of vehicles and personnel.
  • Maintain strong communication with clients and internal stakeholders to coordinate projects effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety and transport regulations.
  • Monitor operational performance, analyse KPIs, and implement improvements.
  • Manage budgets and operational costs in collaboration with senior leadership.
  • Oversee fleet maintenance and compliance requirements.
  • Support recruitment, training, and professional development of team members.
  • Handle escalations and resolve operational challenges in a timely manner.

Key Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an operational management role within removals, logistics, or transport.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage diverse teams.
  • Excellent organisational, planning, and time-management abilities.
  • Background in scheduling and managing vehicles/crews for time-critical projects.
  • Knowledge of health & safety compliance and transport regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and logistics/scheduling systems.
  • Full UK Driving Licence required; CPC, HGV, or forklift certification desirable but not essential.
