Lead FPGA / Embedded Systems Engineer – Semiconductor / RTL A cutting-edge engineering team specializing in hardware platform development is looking for a Lead FPGA / Embedded-Systems Engineer to lead FPGA design initiatives. This is a full-time, permanent role based in Cambridge, UK. You’ll lead a team in creating FPGA prototypes and reference designs for IP platforms used by software developers and external partners. This is a permanent opportunity based in Cambridge, United Kingdom. Key Responsibilities for this Lead FPGA/Embedded Systems Engineer position: Lead and mentor a team in developing FPGA implementations, from design to hardware commissioning. Collaborate with development teams to break down high-level requirements into detailed design specs. Oversee project planning and delivery, identifying risks and tracking milestones. Develop efficient FPGA designs, including RTL creation and implementation, for both internal and third-party platforms. Key Requirements: Proven leadership in FPGA engineering with strong project planning abilities. Proficiency in the FPGA design flow, including RTL design, simulation, synthesis, and place-and-route. Strong coding skills in Verilog/SystemVerilog or VHDL. Experience with scripting for design automation (e.g., Python, TCL). Experience with debugging complex designs, embedded software, and hardware simulation. Knowledge of Xilinx UltraScale+ devices, Synplify toolchain, and DDR memory implementation. Familiarity with ARM IP and AMBA standards, with skills in C/C++ and UNIX scripting a plus.
