Think Trevor James is recruiting for a Tax Manager on behalf of a well-established accountancy firm in Stockport. The firm works with a diverse client base, including businesses, high-net-worth individuals, and partnerships. After recent restructuring within the tax department, they are seeking an experienced manager to refine systems and controls, while also overseeing a select portfolio of personal and corporate tax clients. The role offers an excellent salary and career prospects for the right candidate. The firm is expanding and seeks someone who can help lead the department forward, with hybrid and flexible working arrangements. Role Requirements. * Strong managerial experience, including the ability to manage both upwards and downwards. This includes supporting the career development of the tax team, advising on qualifications, and driving the department’s growth while meeting partner expectations. * Solid technical tax knowledge, ideally in personal and corporate tax, with familiarity in HMRC systems and procedures. * Experience with R&D tax claims, IHT planning, group tax planning, and exit strategy planning is advantageous. * Responsible for ensuring the tax team delivers work on time and profitably, meeting revenue targets based on past performance. * Strong communication skills to engage effectively with the tax team, colleagues, and clients. A proactive approach is preferred. * Familiarity with TacCalc, Virtual Cabinet, and IRIS software for P11Ds is a plus, along with the ability to develop and implement training programs. Responsibilities of the Tax Manager * Lead a team of full-time and part-time tax seniors to meet revenue targets, compliance deadlines (CT and PT), and drive client and knowledge growth. * Collaborate with partners and account managers to ensure the tax team receives necessary information from the accounts team. * Work with partners to optimize IT systems and technology for the tax department. * Manage a small portfolio of personal and corporate tax clients, ensuring compliance. * Work closely with the technical tax partner to integrate technical advice and knowledge.
