Main purpose of the job: The Material Planner is responsible for analysing and responding to supply requirements from manufacturing and sales forecasts and schedules generated from the plants ERP system ensuring timely fulfilment of parts supply maintaining and for maintaining MRP schedule accuracy in support of ongoing production planning activities. Main missions and results: * Plans, organizes and conducts activities within its area in an effective manner towards achieving common objectives * Undertake analysis of shipments versus requirements, identifying any part shortages, resolve issue with relevant suppliers in collaboration with Master Scheduler. * Maintain Supplier EDI/ASN Compliance Matrix and establish plans for non-compliant suppliers. Work with local IT EDI lead and supply chain manager to implement supplier EDI and ASN links. * Review supplier schedules and ensure accurate alignment to demand through timely enactment of MRP exception messages for purchase order reschedule ins, outs and cancellations. * Liaise with Demand and Master Scheduler to identify schedule changes and communicate to impacted suppliers, gaining agreement to the changes or taking actions to mitigate risks. * Ensuring that any volume ramp ups, slowdowns, stock burn off and part changes driven by customer or engineering change (ECN’s) are communicated in advance to the suppliers with an agreed point of embodiment and inventory burn off plan. * Working with suppliers to mitigate costs they may charge in respect of cancellations, unused WIP and excess raw material claims, escalating to relevant Commodity Manager if agreement cannot be reached and flagging additional costs of purchase. * Participate in production planning and ECN reviews as required. * Depending on plant specific ERP requirements run MRP schedule updates, schedule export or manual releases for non-EDI suppliers. * Run relevant cumulative reports to ensure that receipts and returns are properly reported in a timely manner. * Verify nonconforming incoming material is transacted in the system, reported and Mitigated * Review all ASN Errors and resolve. * Review all supplier related data set up and parameters, undertaking regular audits to ensure any errors are identified and fixed (part masters, items with no buyer/planner, items not on PO etc.) * Undertake regular review on in transit shipments versus commit dates and escalate where ongoing late shipments are taking place. Monitor and report monthly supplier OTIF performance. * Support the implementation of lean initiatives and continuous improvement activities undertaken within the plant. Preferred skills and experience: * Experience working within a production planning environment, proven master production scheduler with the ability to build a plan from first principles * Relevant qualification in production planning or manufacturing or comparable education and track record in production planning or scheduling environment * Knowledge of lean logistics and lean production principles in general (e.g. FISS, ideas and principles of Toyota Production System) * Excellent communicator both written and verbal at all levels in English with ability to hold people to account * Analytic thinking and hands-on / pragmatic execution and implementation with attention to detail * Excellent communicator, both written and verbal at all levels in English * Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft packages * Sound understanding of Quality, Business and OEM systems/standards * Self-driven, with an enthusiastic approach and positive attitude able to support and encourage others Additional information 37.50 hours per week Right to work in the UK required (no sponsorship) If you are interested and have the skills and experience required Apply Now!
